Letter home dated Friday, May 4, 1951 from “Still on the Ocean” (7 days on the boat already):

Dear Mom,

Just a few lines to let you know I am still around. We are supposed to get in Okinawa at nine o’clock tomorrow morning. I sure will be glad as believe me, I am so tired of rding on this boat. You will have to keep your eyes open in Life Magazine, Look Magazine and all the newsreels.  There is to be a real big reception for us tomorrow when we get there as we are the first WACs to go to Okinawa.

We stayed overnight while we were in Yokahama, Japan, but they did let us off the boat for two hours. So we went to the PX and the Service Club and walked up and down the main street. Honest, I think the place is filthy and the things they wear on their feet! Really. Some of them can hardly hobble around in them. They are like heavy wooden shower clogs and they have some sort of strap that comes between their toes. It’s awful and in front of all the stores they keep dumping water all over the sidewalk. They say it’s to keep the heat down, but it stinks. They also drive on the wrong side of the street here and use bikes more than cars.

We had all our money changed. I kept one American dollar in my wallet to look at occasionally. Even your ten, five, twenty-five cents are paper certificates. No coins.

Well, I guess I will close for now. Maybe tomorrow there will be some mail waiting for me, I hope. I haven’t had any for so long. Really. This is a picture of the ship we came over in on top of the paper. It is really a big thing. Write soon.

Love, Fran

[Editor’s Note: Up until this point in time, Fran had never been out of the United States. According to the author’s discussions with her, walking around the streets of Japan was a “culture shock” for her.]

After George and Lyndsay walk into their room, George locks the door and as soon as he turns around, Lyndsay hugs him and gives him a big kiss. “I have had SUCH an amazing vacation and it’s all thanks to you, Lyn.” She smiles and asks, “Why do you say that, George?”

He gives her a kiss and continues to explain. “I thought I would never find love again, but you’ve changed that.” They sit on the bed and he explains that about six months ago he broke up with his girlfriend of three years because he caught her cheating on him withhis best friend. He needed to get away from everything and that’swhy he chose Aspen. She hugs him and they start kissing again.

After slowly removing each other’s clothes, he tells her to lie on her stomach. “I am an expert at massages. Here, let me show you.”

She lies down on the bed on her stomach with her arms above her head and he straddles her back, then starts to massage her shoulders and back. He slowly moves his way down to her butt and then massages each leg and foot. He tells her to turn over and massages the front of her legs, then her stomach and her arms. He starts kissing her lips again and then she tells him to lie on his stomach so that she can give him a massage.

She straddles the small of his back and gives him the same treatment, but with one difference. When he turns over onto his back, she sees that he is totally aroused and she gives him a devilish grin.  She starts kissing his chest, then his stomach and finally the tip of his . . .
